I remember that banner, shit.  I joined in July ‘04, at the behest of the Residence Director, as all the RAs were encouraged to add their advisees.  I didn’t fill out my profile until September though, I think.  It was available to 12 or 13 schools when I did, and you couldn’t friend anyone who wasn’t at your college for a long time.

It was chaos when it became available to my college. 80% of the student body joined in the first week. By the second week, they had to put a temporary ban on facebook in the computer labs, because students who needed to do work had no computers due to everyone being on facebook.

People made t-shirts.
